NBSC Partners with DTI-X for Entrepreneurship Seminar for Faculty and Staff
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through the Auxiliary Services Division’s initiative and in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region X, successfully conducted a seminar titled NEGOSYO: Network for Empowering Growth and Opportunities in Starting Your Own. The event occurred on June 20, 2025, at the BCMPC Hotel in Damilag, Manolo Fortich, and was attended by NBSC faculty members and non-teaching personnel.
The college carried out this meaningful initiative under the Annual Operational Plan (AOP) championed by NBSC SUC President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D, CESE, whose leadership underscores the College’s commitment to the holistic development of its people. Responding to this call, OIC-Director for the Auxiliary Services Division Elaine Marie J. Ombina, together with her dedicated teamโHisham P. Danluyan and Blissie Marie C. Paรฑalesโtook the lead in organizing this capacity-building seminar aimed at empowering employees with entrepreneurial knowledge and opportunities for sustainable livelihood.
The organizers designed the seminar to inspire the faculty and non-teaching personnel to think like entrepreneurs and give them hands-on knowledge about starting a business. More than just a learning session, it reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to helping its employees become financially competent, self-reliant, and better prepared to create sustainable sources of income.
Resource speaker Miss Kimberly A. Bacasma, Senior Trade and Industry Development (TID) Specialist and Regional Industry Cluster Enhancement (ICE) Program Coordinator of DTI-X, delivered engaging and insightful sessions on two key topics:
- Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset: Building the Foundation for Business Success
- Establishing a Business: Step-by-Step Essentials for Would-be Entrepreneurs
Miss Bacasma emphasized the importance of creativity, resilience, and strategic planning in achieving entrepreneurial success. She outlined the requirements for establishing a business in the Philippines and cited some public and private agencies that will help employees obtain capital, skills, and other opportunities related to business.
An open forum was also part of the seminar’s discussion, encouraging participants to ask questions and share their thoughts. This helped the participants gain a deeper understanding of specific concerns about starting businesses.
This seminar served as a venue for learning and underscored NBSC’s commitment to empowering its workforce by promoting entrepreneurship as a viable and sustainable livelihood option.
